How It Started -vs- How It's Going

I got my first set of headshots in March of 2017, I was asked to be in a film project, so naturally, they needed headshots.

That's when my story starts. I had just moved to Portland, I was about to finish my first year of high school, and of course, I was going through the fun experience of being a clinically depressed and chronically anxious teenager. 

So naturally, I channeled that into making something that made me feel better, and so I started to write down one of my sick, twisted little daydreams.

When I moved here I knew my life was never going to be the same, but I definitely didn't have writing a fucking book as the catalyst!

Fast forward to November 2024, when I had to get new headshots so I would be able to start sending that cool little story out to agents and publishers.

Nearly a decade later and that very story is no longer just a story but a very real book!

Back in 2017, I could've never suspected the dumb little story I daydreamed about when I should've been paying attention in math would be on shelves across the US. I never would've thought me, some starry-eyed brown kid from the desert would be anywhere near where I am now...

But like Avril said, "It's amazing what a couple of years can bring" ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Dear 15 year old Gabryél, thanks for following my dream, I promise I'll follow yours forever. 

I'm so thankful for my place in the universe, and I'm so thankful to be able to share it with all of you!
