What Instagram Doesn’t Tell You About Writing

People only use social media to share their success and I'm sick of it so here we go, I want you to know that this week I…  

• Wrote zero words. (Yes, actually, zero! Literally, not one word.)  

• Stared at a blank document for 3 hours (per my laptop, because the hours I stared at a blank notebook are uncounted). 

• Wrote an email and forgot to send it. 

• Got rejected by a literary magazine. 

• And!!!  

• Spent 56 hours in Stardew Valley  

So yeah, it's not all pumpkin spice latte scented, 8 hour writing sessions in an uptown Seattle cafe.
